We report a case of hydrops fetalis due to parvovirus B19 infection diagnosed at 20 weeks of gestation and treated by intrauterine transfusion. The haemoglobin before transfusion was 3.2g/dl. Although there was evidence of resolution of hydrops one week after the treatment, it took 7 weeks before all features of hydrops disappeared completely. A healthy baby was delivered at term. The perinatal implication, diagnosis and management of parvovirus infection were discussed. (HKJGOM 2000; 1:67-70)
