LMA and Intubating LMA (LMA-Fastrach) have been widely used by anesthesiologists in operation theaters and have achieved great success. Its use in the emergency department and pre-hospital setting by EMS has recently been proven to be very successful. It is also a very useful tool in providing a quick airway in case of failed intubation and failed ventilation situations. In this article, some of its use in emergency departments and pre-hospital setting are discussed. (Hong Kong j.emerg.med. 2003;10:57-62)
