Objectives
  1. To promote and encourage measures which will improve preventive medicine, community medicine and public health.
  2. To advance the knowledge and practice of preventive medicine, community medicine and public health.
  3. To organise scientific meetings in order to encourage interchange of ideas and to stimulate co-operation in various fields of preventive medicine, community medicine and public health.
  4. To perform any act which it is considered will further the above three objects.


Membership

The Society shall consist of four types of member : Honorary Fellows, Life Members, Full Members and Associate Members.

  1. Honorary Fellows shall be persons who are eminently distinguished in the advancement of preventive and community medicine. They shall enjoy all the privileges of Members except a vote at meetings and eligibility for office. Honorary Fellows are not required to pay subscriptions.

  2. Life Members shall be persons who are qualified as members; who have been recommended by the Council and who have paid a once-for-all subscription the amount of which shall be specified by the Council from time to time. Life Member shall enjoy all the privileges of Members.

  3. Full Members shall be:-
    1. Medical and dental practitioners working in, having been working in or with interest in preventive medicine, community medicine or public health;
    2. Other people with relevant qualifications or working experience in preventive medicine, community medicine or public health, subject to approval by the Council.


  4. Associate Members shall be such persons of professional standing interested in the advancement of preventive medicine, community medicine, or public health as the Council may from time to time agree to be eligible, and not falling into any category as mentioned in the "Full Members" section. Associate Members do not have voting right in any meeting.
