Hong Kong College of Paediatricians Foundation
The Hong Kong College of Paediatricians Foundation has been invited by the Hua Xia Foundation to a fact finding and medical exchange visit to Qing Hai from 6th - 10th July, 2005. This is in response to our having raised $400,000 for their scholarship fund for the Qing Hai School of Professional Health. The Dean of the Faculty of Health & Social Sciences of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Prof. Thomas Wong and some members of his staff will join us for the exchange. All members of our College are also invited to participate in this tour.
Qing Hai, in the north west of China, is a place of immense natural beauty and yet one of the poorest and least developed areas of China. This is a good opportunity for us to learn about their medical system as well as to tour their scenic spots.
The itinerary is as follows:-

Professional exchange with Provincial Health Department officials
Tour Maternal & Child Hospital
Professional exchange with School of Professional Health
|
8/7/05 |

Evening - Dinner with cultural show
|
9/7/05 |

Tour of Qing Hai Lake and gold & silver beach. |
10/7/05 |
Depart for Hong Kong |
Since there is no direct flight to Qing Hai from Hong Kong, we have to travel via Shenzhen Airport. Flight schedule is as follows:
Depart HK on July 6, 2005 via Hainam Airways : HU7872: 1205 hrs – 1730 hrs
Arrive HK on July 10, 2005 via Hainam Airways: HU7871: 0800 hrs – 1215 hrs
The airfare is RMB 4,020 (airport tax not included)
Hotel accommodation charge is approx. HK$2,000 (approx. HK$500 per nite)
The local Government will provide transport and meals. We shall pay for our travel and accommodation. This is an unique opportunity for us to learn about the health and medical system of a remote area of China as well as to tour the area. Fellows who are interested to join are requested to give their names and contact details to the College Secretariat, c/o Mrs. Christine Leung, by fax (27851850) or email (hkcpaed@netvigator.com) on or before 10 th June, 2005 for reservation purpose.
Since this is partly a working tour where we will spend two days meeting with Chinese Officials, it is not convenient to bring along family members. I hope we can organize a fellowship tour in the near future once we have a general idea of the area.
I look forward to sharing this experience and to receive enthusiastic support from all members of the Hong Kong College of Paediatricians.
